The Nobel prize is a set of six international prize awards in the fields of chemistry, physics, literature, economics, physiology and medicine. They have been awarded annually since 1901 in honor of the will of Alfred Nobel – the inventor of the dynamite. The winner receives approximately 8 million Swedish Krona ($1 million USD) and an 18-karat gold medal. Over the years many University of Southern California professors have won the Nobel Prize. Let us take a look at what research led them to winning the Nobel Prize.

So there you are. Watching the same show on Netflix for the twenty-third time. You want to do something but you don’t really know what so you just watch Netflix because you think there’s nothing else for you to do. Well, you’re just so lucky you ran into this blog post as you were scrolling through your Facebook feed because I am here to help. USC has some many opportunities to take advantage of but the real problem is trying to find out what they are and finding them, which is why you have us! A great way to fill up your free time, get involved on campus, help the community around USC, and get leadership experience is through clubs and on-campus organizations. I know. It sounds too good to be true but it isn’t!! Here are some tips for finding what club you belong with here at USC.

Sexual assault is a widespread problem on college campuses across the country and unfortunately, USC is no exception by any means. According to the 2015 survey by the Association of American Universities (AAU), among female college students, 23% said they experienced some form of unwanted sexual contact (ranging from kissing to rape, carried out by force or threat of force, or while they were incapacitated).

Wow, I can’t believe we are already on week seven of school. Over the last couple of weeks our student government has been busy advocating for student needs and looking into how we can make the student experience better. This year, we are also looking at how we can empower students to be engaged off campus. This is why I was so appalled when I learned that only 42 percent of 18-24 year olds registered to vote. The lowest figure in over forty years.

Parent’s weekend is upon us, which is slightly frightening because the first 6 weeks of the semester can be really hectic. Midterms are starting, you’re trying to get involved or back involved on campus, possibly finding a on-campus job, etc. There is so much to do that sometimes your health (and the cleanliness of your room) might fall apart. SO here are some tips you can take within the next week to trick your parents into thinking you have your life together when they come to USC next weekend. You’re welcome in advance. Last weekend, I and a few friends headed up North to the San Francisco Bay Area to what is the annual pilgrimage for many USC students – The Weekender. This year it was Stanford’s turn to host the USC Trojans for a PAC-12 footballing showdown.
