Ask A Trojan: What's your favourite spot on campus and why?
Sophia – My favorite spot is the courtyard by the Jefferson Building. It's generally very quiet and isolated and has the perfect amount of dappled sunlight!
Jordan – The bookstacks! It's my hidey-hole for taking naps in between class.
Dara – My fave spot on campus is actually a freshman year favourite: the Hoose Philosphy Library. It's so quiet and has a very medieval abiance — definitely a great spot for some quick pre-midterm memorization!
Cherise – My favorite spot on campus is just sitting in front of the Leavey Library by the fountain. I get to hear the water flowing and just look out onto the McCarthy Quad and enjoy the sunshine :)
Ngai – Annenberg Hall! Not just because I'm a proud journalism major, but the sleek, modern building has an amazing newsroom (often described by visiting veteran journalists as one of the nicest they've ever been in), free printing, spots to nap in, plenty of charging ports, and a very pretty patio.
Angela — The University Religious Center has a lot of rooms you can book out for gatherings or studying. All the rooms are really comfortable with couches and cushions. The study room downstairs has tea, coloring books, and even a mini sand box! (You do not have to be religious to book a room!)
Kelsey – My favorite spot on campus is the philosophy library because it is so beautiful, historical, plus heated on cold days. I like to study, relax, and read in the book stacks. The philosophy building has been where I had two of my fave classes, so many fond memories.
Kristen – My favorite spot on campus is Wallis Annenberg Hall, I enjoy grabbing lunch in the cafe and finding a cozy spot to eat, study, and relax on one of the many, many floors!
Nancy – I don't have a singular favorite spot on campus, but one of my favorite spots on campus currently is the balconies at the School of Cinematic Arts. They're not very crowded, they're sunny and I get a fresh breeze every once in a while. It's hands down one of my favorite spots to do work or just chill and have lunch. Working behind a screen is exhausting so getting some sun is very much needed!
Sydney H – My favorite spot on campus is the patio outside Leavey Library. When it's sunny but not too hot outside it's the perfect place to absorb some sun, talk with friends, or do some homework. Also it's right next to Starbucks, which is a plus.
Sydney F – My favroite spot on campus is either VPD or Annenberg! I love studying at these spots both with different vibes. VPD is really nice for a quiet study space, and Annenberg is a nice place to people watch and get work done.
Esther – My favorite spot on campus is the upper levels of Annenberg! I love the windows and the comfy seats and the study spots where I can relax and get ahead on my work. I have fond memories of the Annenberg building from a summer program I did before being admitted to USC — I remember those upper levels were always my favorite!
Tamanna – My favorite spot on the USC campus is the Doheny Courtyard right next to the library and LiteraTea. It's not really a super underground or unknown spot, but it is a little hidden and that's part of its charm. I have really fond memories of the place as well because it's the place my boyfriend and I visit often! Highly recommend eating the chicken pesto pita from LiteraTea while enjoying the sun!
Catherine – My favorite spot on campus is a place dubbed "the fish tank" by USC Games majors. It's kind of like a lounge and study space wrapped into one, and students socialize, study, and play games together in that space. I know there are other departments/majors at USC that offer a kind of similar room, so be sure to check and see if yours does!
Sanaa – My favorite spot on campus is Alumni Park right in front of Doheney Library. I usually go there to study or take naps when the weather is nice outside. It offers me peace and quiet without feeling isolated from everyone else.
Badruddin – Since joining the Muslim Student Union during my first semester at USC, the University Religious Center (URC) has become the place where I spend the most amount of time. In addition to having the Muslim Prayer Room in close proximity for my five daily prayers, the URC is just a really nice place with lots of rooms that are open for studying or just hanging out. There's also free food sometimes and always free tea in the lounge downstairs!
Amy – My favorite spot is just in front of Leavey Library because of all the sunlight it gets. Usually I like to go there when the weather is nice and do homework at one of the tables there.
