What has a better community Parkside Apartments vs Webb Tower as a freshman?

In my experience, the community at Parkside Apartments stands out, largely due to its proximity to both Parkside Arts & Humanities (A&H) and the International Residential College (IRC). During my time there, many RA and Parkside events were open to residents from all three buildings, which made it easy to meet people from IRC and Parkside Apartments. The area also offers several lounge spaces and direct access to one of the dining halls, making it incredibly convenient to connect with others over a meal.

I was an RA at Webb and from my experience it really just depends on what you want from your college experience. If you want something more social, it’ll be a bit difficult at Webb if you’re not on a social leaning floor. Aside from that I loved being at Webb. It was generally quiet, near the village, next to Lyon gym, close to a parking garage, and (I think) it’s the only housing option for freshman that’s apartment style (so if A/C, a kitchen, a living room is important then 100% do Webb).

I lived in Webb my freshman year and absolutely loved it! I would say if you’re looking for community, apartments are harder to find that because of how secluded and private they are — suites and residence halls have study rooms, lounges, and more open places to meet people, whereas apartments tend to be closed doors, and you tend to meet friends by meeting friends of your roommates when they come over, for example. However, I lived on the 15th floor of Webb and my RA did a phenomenal job building a community, the 14th and 15th floors of Webb were nicknamed the “Penthouse” and we often hung out at each other’s apartments, went to game days together, and had picnics outside of Webb!
