10 Galentine’s Day Party Ideas

by Maya Lopez ‘26

Since it was first popularized on Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day is celebrated annually on February 13th. Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating the friends in your life. This year, I’ve crafted a list of 10 Galentine’s Day party ideas to help you host the perfect festive get-together this February.

Charcuterie Board/Bring a Board Night

Have every guest bring a themed board and dig in! From chocolate to Chick Fil A, you can literally make a board out of anything. This is a fun activity to bring friends together and admire all the boards you came up with.

Themed Drink Night

This trend has been all over TikTok, and while personally I haven’t done a themed cocktail night yet, I still think the idea is hilarious! The most common theme I’ve seen is everyone has to bring a cocktail that describes your ex, but you can do anything from galentine's day to zodiac themed cocktails.

Spa Night

To me, Galentine’s Day screams self care. Even if you have a beau this Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day is all about you and your girls. Indulge in face masks, mani pedis, and matching pj sets with your friends.

DIY Paint and Sip

Unleash your creative side and host a paint and sip for you and your girlfriends. You can buy a small canvas for each guest or buy one larger canvas and make the piece a group effort. Set out some sparkling cider or hot cocoa to give the night a festive vibe!

Pizza Making Party

Nothing tastes quite as good as a homemade pizza. Set out the toppings and bring your friends together to make their own personal pizzas. Make it Galentine’s day themed by shaping them into hearts. If you’re still hungry for dessert try a Nutella pizza with strawberries – because nothing screams Galentine’s day like strawberries with chocolate.

Movie Night

Grab some popcorn and movie snacks and pop on your favorite romcom! A movie night is a super chill and casual activity if you’re just looking to spend time with your friends without putting in too much effort. In no particular order, here is my list of favorite rom-coms I recommend watching at your Galentine’s Day movie night:

  • Legally Blonde

  • How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

  • Clueless

  • 27 Dresses

  • Crazy Rich Asians

  • Forgetting Sarah Marshall

  • La La Land

  • He’s Just Not That Into You

  • 50 First Dates

Fondue Night

When I was little, my family and I did fondue nights all the time and it was so fun! Invite your friends over and get your dipping on! I’m personally more of a chocolate fondue girl, but if you’re looking for something savory, cheese fondue is a great option too.

Karaoke Night

This idea can be done in so many different ways. If you’re over 21, there are some great karaoke bars downtown. If not, just search up the karaoke version of your favorite songs and invite your friends over to laugh and sing with you!

Drag Brunch

There's nothing I enjoy more than a good drag brunch. Sparkles, good music, and orange juice – what's there not to love? LA has plenty of great drag brunch spots, it would be a missed opportunity to not go for Galentine’s Day.

Vision Board

I consider myself a vision board connoisseur. I have made over 5 vision boards in my lifetime, and I’ve taught many friends how to make them too. Invite your friends over and have them put together a photo collage of what they want in their lives. This activity has great vibes and is a good way to focus on yourself!
