About Matt
By Matt Freihofner ‘15
Born and bred a New Yorker, I never thought I would live anywhere but the Empire State. After graduating high school I went to community college near NYC for a year and then transferred to SUNY Albany in upstate New York.
Frankly, I didn’t know much about USC besides sanctions and Reggie Bush. During my first year at Albany my best friend from high school really pressured me to come join him at USC. After already transferring once I was a bit reluctant but I thought, “Whatever, I won’t get in anyway.” So to make him happy I sent in an application and lo and behold here I am, part of the Trojan Family.
It’s been quite a ride so far. From walking to classes in underground tunnels because of snow in Albany, to catching a tan strolling to class in shorts and a t-shirt at USC, its been a 360.
I am a Junior-Senior (graduating December ’15) and studying Political Economy. I am brother at large for my fraternity (AEPI) & a member of the Executive Board. My interests are sports, politics, movies, and music. The New York Knicks is my favorite team, I love the Daily Show and VICE, movies have to be above 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, and music is all over the place. I come from a big family most of who have never even been to California (that will change).
I am really excited to start working for Trojans 360 and hope to help make a difference to students at this school. When I transferred, I often felt overwhelmed by the vast amount of things happening at USC and struggled to keep up. Hopefully, this blog can help guide those new and old at USC and really explore everything the school has to offer. From hidden gems on campus to concerts at McCarthy Quad, Trojan 360 will touch it all.
