Best Flicks: Conquest 2017

By: Joy Ofodu ‘18

Every year, during rivalry week, McCarthy Quad transforms to create the Conquest experience: One night of a joint, rallied war cry against the Bruins that ultimately proved fruitful for our team!

Conquest this year featured vendors (i.e. Monster, Coachella) themed photo booths, giveaways, a giant ferris wheel, food trucks and the big stage rolled out for USC student groups like Trojan Dance Force and the Troy Tones, as well as rapid-fire appearances from the captains of our Aquatics, Volleyball, Tennis, Basketball and Football Teams.

The crowds came out in multitudes - even the tiny Trojans were representing!

The decor was festive, to say the very least. And you know the Trojan Marching Band didn’t come to play.

Our concert this year featured a headlining performance from Lil Pump (does “Gucci Gang” ring a bell)? and proved that Conquest is better with friends!

The evening wrapped with my favorite tradition: the burning of the Bruin. Those flames reached higher than the rooftop of Doheney (where I could have sworn I saw four vigilant Knights toasting to the Bruins’ downfall).

Another year, another Conquest!

Fight On!
