Tomorrow’s TriFESTa

By Grace Carballo ‘17

“What are you doing tomorrow?” someone a lot like me might ask you with genuine interest in her tone.

If you answered “Nothing” or “Not much” in an effort to curtail this conversation and discourage inevitable follow-up questions, THINK AGAIN.

Tomorrow you’re doing much more than “not much” because there are THREE amazing fests (Springfest, Greenfest, and Gearfest) right here on campus for FREE and everyone is welcome.

SPRINGFEST

Gates to Springfest on McCarthy Quad open at 2 pm and this day-long musical extravaganza lasts way past your childhood bedtime (excluding perhaps NYE or if you had negligent parental figures), until midnight!

This fest promises free live music ranging from talented local artists to those who’ve already made it big in addition to some good truckin food:

According to the Concert’s Committee and the Springfest event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/1624803817738434/) here’s what we’re twerkin’ with in terms of the lineup/schedule as of now:

Just to clear up any confusion, “TBA” is not some rad band you don’t know but will pretend to if anyone asks (keep it vague and indifferent- works every time). The headliners haven’t been announced yet officially but I’m pretty in the know, and by that I mean I’m always the last to know…However, according to comments on the Springfest event page (linked above) the acronym TBA is merely a placeholder for GTA at 9:30 and 2 Chainz at 11:00!

Time will tell, I suppose, but whether we get to see him live or not, let’s all toast 2 Chainz for his steadfast support of this university with his own twist on the classic “Fight On” V-for-Victory gesture.

Fight on, 2 Chainz!

GEARFEST

Gearfest is a unique production brought to you by USC’s Black Student Assembly that brings to life the fusion of music, fashion, and technology across an eclectic mix of mediums.

One of the featured designers at this year’s gear fest is Iris Vest, known for “Barefoot Sandals by Iris”. I’ve never seen anything like this foot decor, which naturally makes me want them that much more. Gearfest showcases these handcrafted beauties and lots of other unique finds, as well.

Another booth to look out for at Gearfest is House of Aama, which is a culturally-inspired lifestyle brand. HOA was the first designer announced for this year’s fest and it will not disappoint.

For more previews of all Gearfest has to offer, feel free to peruse its instagram, @USC_Gearfest, as I just did to acquire the photos above.

GREENFEST

Last, but certainly not least, why not kick off Earth Month right and head over to the SOS lawn, right near McCarthy Quad, to participate in the Energy Playground? This year will be even better than last, which seems hard to top based on how fun this photo looks from Greenfest 2014:

This year, Greenfest’s playground has even more supplies and you can even earn a free t-shirt of the Springfest, Greenfest, or Earth Month variety! Greenfest is from 2-7 pm so notify your fest friends to plan accordingly when scheduling your days.

For more info on Greenfest, definitely don’t print this article- that’s not green and very absurd- but join the event page, instead:

So get some rest tonight, Trojans, because tomorrow it’s gonna get real festive up in here!
