Introducing the USC Pharmacy Vending Machine in the Village

Putting anything in a vending machine instantly makes it more interesting, so the new gold vending machine sitting outside of Trader Joe’s up against the elevator bank immediately caught my eye. Actually a revival of a project started in 2019, the USC Pharmacy and USC Student Health have installed a “wellness-to-go” vending machine in the USC Village to give students 24/7 access to over the counter medication.

Pizza, Please Brings a New Affordable Spot to the Village

By: Lanie Brice ‘24

Like all restaurants at the Village, Pizza, Please is counter service, and ordering was easy and efficient. With six kinds of pizza (though they are customizable into more options), a few types of wings, and a couple sandwiches, the menu isn’t so extensive you’ll be overwhelmed. Given that pizza is a notorious college student staple, it’s about time the Village locked in a permanent pizza stop open for late night runs until 11 p.m.

Power Couple Saves Student Laptops and Livelihoods at the USC Village

By: Ngai Yeung ‘23

Everyone breezes right past the sleek, austere storefront that almost looks like a mini Apple store on Jefferson—that is, until they’re in trouble. For where else can a student with two essays and a presentation due the next day go when smoke starts wafting out of their laptop?

“You need that for students because they have so much going on. That’s their livelihood right there,” said Angel Otoniel “Toni” Herrera, lead technician and co-founder of the Mac Repair Clinic.

Herrera set up the small USC Village shop just two years ago with his business and life partner, Emily Garber. Working side-by-side, with one in charge of Macs and the other in charge of iPhones, the duo pulled through the pandemic to keep the shop open seven days a week.

10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Transferring to USC

By: Cherise Clough ‘24

USC was my dream school because I thought it was the perfect school for me. I got rejected when I had applied to start there for my freshman year of college and that rejection broke my heart. Fast forward to 2021, and here I am living my dream, but has it been everything I expected? Here are just a few things I wish I knew before coming to USC as a transfer.

Learning to Love your Loft

By: Antonia Le ‘22

The general housing lottery has come and gone, and cancellation/reassignment time is nearly upon us. For many Trojans who were lucky enough to get into the housing of their dreams, it’s a time to step away and think about what’s really important: buying new decorations for next year’s digs. However, some Trojans are faced with much different tasks: trying to get reassigned to any room other than a loft or figuring out how to downsize their lives so that everything fits into a dorm room the size of a shoebox.

USC: the University of Steady Construction

By: Lauren Brose ‘15

Unsurprisingly, USC has been making a few minute modifications on and off campus. If you haven’t noticed already, the only Wendy’s for miles has been torn down alongside a movie theatre that nobody ever frequented, the highly controversial Superior Supermarket, and Health Hut— a sandwich and fruit smoothie bar that I honestly have nothing negative to say about because the workers were as sweet as the fresh smoothies that’d quench my thirst every Wednesday after French. It’s save to assume I wasn’t the biggest fan of the gaping hole of dusty revulsion that is better known as “University Village.”
