The Ultimate Guide to an LA Staycation: Presidents Day Weekend

I don’t know about you but I’m not a big fan of three day weekends in LA. All my local friends go back home, and I find myself extremely bored by the third day. This President’s Day weekend, I plan to change the narrative and make the most of the extra day off from class. I’ve compiled a list of fun activities happening in LA over the three day weekend. for my fellow staycationers.
Saturday February 17
Pico Blvd Farmers Market
The Pico Boulevard Farmers Market is known for its “superb produce” and unique small businesses. Enjoy a casual stroll outside and explore the vendors at this classic farmers market in Santa Monica.

LA Vintage Warehouse Sale
Spice up your wardrobe with unique pieces from the LA Vintage warehouse sale! Think of this as an elevated trip to the Goodwill bins; each pound of clothing is $6. Not only is this option extremely affordable, but it's also a good way to get unique pieces that no one else has.

USC Trojans Basketball Game
Come support the Trojans against the Colorado Buffaloes! This year we beat the Buffaloes in football, let's see if the Trojans will fight on again in this match up.

Professional Bull Riders
Professional bull riding is a high stakes electrifying competition. Come watch at the edge of your seat on Saturday night. If you’re like me and don’t have any experience at rodeos or watching bull riding, this is a great way to get into a new sport.

Venice Beach Outdoor Comedy Club
Laugh out loud at this outdoor venue with great ambiance. This show will feature headliners from Netflix, Comedy Central, and HBOMax. You won’t want to miss this show!

Melrose Trading Post
I went to the Melrose Trading Post for the first time last weekend and it definitely won’t be my last. From cute posters to unique secondhand finds, the MelroseTrading post is the perfect place to wander and window shop.

Hamburger Mary’s Drag Brunch
Start your day with pizzazz at Hamburger Mary’s iconic drag brunch! If you’re looking for high energy and good music this is a great way to liven up your Sunday brunch.

Cinderella at Santa Monica Playhouse
Santa Monica is only a 30 minute train ride away from campus. Go down to the Santa Monica Playhouse to see their multimedia version of the classic fairytale Cinderella.

Romeo and Juliet Ahmanson Theatre
Located in DTLA, the Ahmanson theater is putting on Romeo and Juliet- a classic Shakespeare love story. Come see the show only 4 days after Valentine's Day!

Santa Monica Farmer’s Market
