Top 5 Things that Happened at SpringFest
By Paul Samaha ‘17
This year’s annual Springfest at USC was a certified banger. With a stacked lineup and attractions all around (including a brand new beer garden!), the student body never saw a dull moment on McCarthy Quad this past Saturday.
#5 BØRNS threw piñatas into the crowd
Along with his wonderful performance of dreamy folk music, BØRNS threw piñatas into the crowd that were filled with candy and condoms… providing sweet and safe fun for all students on McCarthy Quad.
#4 GTA had an awesome laser show
With every hypnotic beat that GTA laid down, mesmerizing lasers pulsated to the rhythm of the trapped out music. Not only were the lasers and visuals highly entertaining, but GTA was my favorite act of the night despite not knowing of the trap DJ duo before Springfest. Checkout their soundcloud here.
#3 The Action Zone
Rock climbing wall, hamster wheel and obstacle course, oh my! Students stayed active at Springfest via a wide array of fun and unique activities brought in from Trojan Pride and the Special Events Committee.
#2 Gearfest’s Fashion Show
Hosted by the Black Student Assembly, Gearfest was a portion of Springfest that fused fashion, music, art and technology together. Student artists, designers and models showed off their very own creations. There is so much going on at Springfest, but Gearfest is such a cool and unique production as it is all produced by students. I would love to see something similar to Gearfest occur more than just once a year!
#1 This dog
Main act 2Chainz put on a spectacle and did not disappoint the thousands of students lined up on the quad who waited hours to see him. But what made 2Chainz appearance ever better? 2 Chainz brought his dog with him to campus, stopping by popular buildings like Doheny library. 2 Chainz– not only is he an entertaining performer with catchy hip-hop beats, but he has an adorable french bulldog too.
