USC Undergraduate Schools as Thanksgiving Dishes
By Kelly Kinas ‘16
Let me guess. You have always wondering what Thanksgiving dish you are. Isn’t that why we take all of those BuzzFeed quizzes? I suddenly had to know what song from Justin Bieber’s new album matches the closest with my personality.
Luckily, you guys have me. I am here to create a list of all the USC schools that have Undergraduate programs as the dishes of a normal Thanksgiving dinner.
~~~**wHiCh OnE aRe YoU**~~~
Price School for Public Policy- Apple Pie
As American as Apple Pie. Public Policy is incredibly important to our country and our university. Also this school is mostly Graduate students so it’s fittingly a dessert portion of the Thanksgiving meal.
Thornton School of Music- White Wine
Please. This one is so classy. Jazz music majors playing in the background and sipping on a nice, slightly chilled glass of white wine. It just fits so well and is a great addition to any Thanksgiving or University.
Viterbi School of Engineering- Stuffing
One of the best parts of the meal, a staple of Thanksgiving. It isn’t always the most fun thing to look at like a Engineer’s notebook but stuffing is delicious and one thing a lot of people look forward to at Thanksgiving.
School of Dramatic Arts- Crescent Rolls
As a former student of SDA, I can say I love the school but a lot of people think this part of the meal is not as necessary as other dishes. I disagree. This nice bread portion of the meal is a great addition to any Thanksgiving.
Kaufman School of Dance- Gravy
Gravy eloquently dances on top of many dishes on Thanksgiving. Gravy can make or break a turkey or stuffing. Kaufman is the newest addition to the USC community but we welcome them into our family, just like we welcome a gravy boat on our table last minute.
Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism- Pumpkin Pie
You don’t really think of pumpkin pie when you think of Thanksgiving. A lot of people think of turkey or stuffing; they push pumpkin pie to side, saying it’s not as important because it’s a dessert. Pumpkin pie is delicious and an integral part of Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie is bomb as hell.
School of Cinematic Arts– Yams (with marshmallows)
Cinematic Arts school is the best school in its field in the world. Yams are the best part of Thanksgiving in my opinion. The gooey marshmallows, the apples, the yams themselves. It seems a bit weird but delicious and important nonetheless.
Marshall School of Business- Red Wine
Old, traditional, and slightly alcoholic.
Roski School of Design- Cranberry Sauce
Hip, new, constantly on the brink of innovation. Funky, seems a little weird at first but once you get a taste of it, it’s incredibly cool and delicious.
School of Architecture- Green Bean Casserole
A feat within itself, really. Incredibly cool but not a lot of people go near it. Those who are a part of it love it and will spend most of day (or 5 years) dealing with it.
Keck School of Medicine- Mashed Potatoes
Keck is hearty, mostly a graduate school but the study of medicine is important. Mashed potatoes are delicious and the more potatoes, the better at Thanksgiving!
Leventhal School of Accounting- Brussels Sprouts
Don’t be offended, accountants! I love you all! A lot of people stay away from this food and this major. I love brussels sprouts and I think they are an integral part of any Thanksgiving meal (or any business or any university).
AND FINALLY…
Dornsife School of Letters, Arts, and Sciences
The Dornsife school houses the most undergraduate students, it’s only fair it’s the turkey. While it’s what most people fuss over, all the side dishes are equally as important.
HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND
Fight On!
