Say What You Need to Say

Yesterday on Trousdale, there was a lot going on, so you may have missed the Postcards for Representatives table sponsored by USC Delta Phi Epsilon and Trojan Advocates for Political Progress.
I stopped by in a bit of a hurry on my way to class and got a postcard to send to my representatives and some really helpful information about the Day of Action that I’d love to pass along to all of you.
To find your local representative to contact, check out this link.
For advice on what to say when you call, this website provides you with some progressive scripts for a Weekly Call to Action.
GovTrack helps you track legislation being debated in Congress as well as Senate votes on key Trump nominations.
If our current political climate has you wanting to do more to take action, why not join some of your peers who feel the same way?
The two organizations that sponsored the Day of Action could be a great place to start!
USC Delta Phi Epsilon is an organization open to anyone interested in International Relations. The USC chapter was recently rechartered in 2016 and Dean Steven Lamy, a beloved IR professor, serves as their academic advisor.
Trojan Advocates for Political Progress strives to be an outlet for political students’ political activism. They “hope to play our part in making our city, state, and country more just, sustainable, and equitable.” To join TAPP, you can fill out this form, and find out more about how to get involved.
These are stressful times for many of us, but as TAPP and DPE pointed out on their handout yesterday, calling your local representative to register your opinions is a proven way to advocate for important causes and to hold our elected officials accountable.
Keep your friends’ phone numbers close and your elected officials’ numbers closer!
Keep fighting on for what you believe in,
