16 Things to Do Before Graduation

image

By Emily Young MA ‘16

Class of 2016, we have 16 days till our hats are in the air.  Here’s 16 ways how to make them count:

1) Rent Your Cap and Gown

image

If you missed Grad Fest in February, don’t fret.  You can still rent your cap and gown May 2nd – 13th on the patio of the USC Bookstore.  If you already ordered your cap and gown at Grad Fest, you can pick it up on the patio of the USC Bookstore April 28th and 29th.

2) Take Grad Pictures on Campus

image

Although it is a hassle to get dressed up and convince someone to take photos of you, you’ll definitely appreciate them down the road.  If not your parents will.  Round up a group of your friends and go take awesome pictures together to commemorate your time here.  Gradation will be too hectic to find all your friends and take pictures.

3) Senior Run Dash + Splash

image

I participated in the Senior Run last year as a graduating undergrad and it was tons of fun.  It seems like this year it will be an even bigger event with the run ending with a pool party at Utengsu Aquatics Center with free food, DJs, games, and inflatables! Wristbands for the Senior Run: Dash + Splash are being distributed today on Trounsdale from 10:00am-2:30pm next to the flag pole and also at Senior SCendoff 2016 from 4-6pm next to the Alumni House!! The Senior Run starts Thursday night at 9:00pm.

4) Visit the 90

image

What would the USC experience be without the scared 90?  It’s hard to describe to people who have never been.  Time to go one more time and say AMF!

5) Go to Office Hours

image

We are fortunate to have very cool professors here at USC.  Before you graduate you should revisit your favorite teachers at office hours, thank them, and share your plans for the future.  If your not sure about your plans yet, even more reason to go and ask for advice!

6) Book Store Splurge

image

Celebrate your coming commencement with a splurge at the bookstore.  USC Alumni License Plate Frame? A coffee cup? Water Bottle?  Go today for 25% off!

7) Turn in Final Assignments….Maybe

image

With the end so near, turning in assignments gets harder.  Make lists, get some coffee, and snap out of your senioritis.  Think of it this way, the faster you get it done, the more time you have to celebrate!

8) Hang Out with Friends

image

Before you all graduate and find yourselves across the globe, hangout with the people you have made friends with during your time at USC.  Your classmates, freshman year roommate, R.A., etc. Get together and take the time to reminisce and make a game plan of how you’ll keep in touch: football game reunion, road trip in 5 years, monthly hikes, Skype…

9) Revisit EVK

image

EVK has gotten a ton better since we were Freshman.  Go back and reminisce on your old chomping grounds.  I mean, when is the next time you will have a USC Waffle?

10) Jacks n Joe

image

Look people, if you’ve never been to Jack’s N Joe ‘because it’s too crowded’, you’ve lived in 4 years of excuses.  Choose a weekday get up early and go.  Now what to order….that’s a real problem.

11) Traddies (Traditions & Tommy’s Place)

image

When I look back on my time at USC I always wonder why I was not at Traddies more.  My best birthday spent at USC was winning Trivia Night at Traddies with a group of my best friends.  If you’ve never gone for Wednesday night trivia, tonight is your last shot.  Although you can’t beat the teams who have been competing all semester, it’s still a great time. Check it out!

12) Ground Zero

image

Ground Zero gets you through finals with coffee and milkshakes to celebrate.

13) Use your Study Days Appropriately

image

Since you have been on top of your classes all semester use study week or a day you don’t have finals go to an amusement park on a weekday and avoid the lines.

14) Row Run

image

There is no life like Greek Life.  Take a victory lap.  You deserve it.

15) Come cheer #1 USC Beach Volleyball in the PAC 12 Tournament this Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

image

Yes, this is a shameless plug to come watch our team play.  But you wouldn’t want to leave USC without the opportunity to cheer on one of USC’s best teams now would you?

16) Graduate!
