Why You Need to Check Out Air + Style at Expo Park Feb 20-21

In case you haven’t noticed, there is construction of a huge ramp going on right in front of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.  Come Saturday, that 16-story ramp will be packed with snow—yes snow—and some of the best snowboarders in the world will be doing mad jumps and tricks, competing against one another in a head-to-head battle to be named Air + Style Tour Champion.

All of this snowboarding action is accompanied with music performances from hit bands like J. Cole, Incubus, and Kaskade, along with various art, fashion, technology exhibits.  Oh and don’t forget the delicious food trucks.  The Air + Style tour was designed by snowboarder Shaun White to reflect his lifestyle and incorporate his love of snowboarding, music, food, art, and technology all into one epic event, so you better not miss it.

I went to Air + Style last year in Pasadena since my boyfriend is a huge skiing fanatic.  I am living proof that you don’t really need to know anything about snowboarding or the X-Games to enjoy the event.  It’s like going to a circus; you don’t need to know how they are doing the crazy stunts to enjoy the show.

The event starts at 1:00pm and I suggest getting to the event before 4:00pm to give yourself time to check out the sponsor tents, art exhibits, and check out some of the smaller bands. Also have extra cash on hand since some of the food trucks do not accept credit cards.

Although the ticket price is high for college students on a budget, $75 one day general admission, the price is worth the value.  You could play well over $75 to see Incubus, Kaskade, J. Cole, or Haim alone.  Not to mention the price of the snowboarding and all the free swag you get.  Since the event is right in USC’s backyard, there’s also no transportation cost and you even get to sleep in your own bed.  Can’t say that about Coachella can you?

If $75 is a little too steep, check out these opportunities to win free tickets:

I’ll be there on Sunday! If you have any questions feel free to reach out in the Ask a Trojan section or check out the Air + Style website.
