Get Going at USC!

Get Involved

You’ll here it from everyone once you start classes. The best way to make the most of your university experience is to join clubs & organizations. The USC office of campus activities lists more than 800 registered student groups you can be a part of. The full list can be found here

From my personal experience, it’s best to be active with a few clubs. Join one that is related to your major and actively participate. It’s always something you can put on your resume. Then join clubs that suit your interests. There is a club for everyone’s interests and in the case there isn’t, you need to find 5 friends to start your own!

Get Active

USC is a powerhouse when it comes to college athletics, this translates onto the general student population. A huge portion of the student body loves to stay fit & active. So much so that there’s not one but two apps to help you stay active.

The first one is REC*IT. This app lets you register for intramurals if you already have a team of friends or even lets you find a team to join. It has a listing of all the club sports USC has to offer as well. The app also lists gym & pool hours.

Get Fit

The second one is REC*IT Fitness. This app lists and lets you register for all the fitness activities & classes going on at USC. There’s Zumba, Yoga, Weightlifting and so much more.

 iOS | Android

Besides the app, you can use the USC Rec Sports site for more information.

Get Around

USC provides students with a service called Campus Cruiser which takes you anywhere within stipulated boundaries for free after dark. The hours change every semester so check out the USC Transportation website for updated timings. To hail a car, the most convenient way is to use the app.

iOS | Android

USC is probably the only university that lets you use Uber for free! Well 7pm-2am and within a certain radius around the university and that’s still uber cool! For more info of the program, visit the following link.

Get Out

The best part of coming to USC, you’re going to be in LOS ANGELES! That being said there’s so much to get out and do. From trying out restaurants, museums, theme parks – you can’t get bored in LA. The USC ticket office provides student discount to any amusement park you’d want to go to around the area and also discounted cinema tickets. Check out the full listing here. Also most museums, galleries are free or discounted for students – a few to get you started are LACMA, The Broad & the California Science Center.
