High above the clouds at an elevation of 8,600ft. we stood in awe as we admired the surrounding natural beauty and majestic views of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Through rain, snow, and sunshine we experienced it all as we backpacked through the fickle weather conditions to Ontario Peak.

The two-day 12.5 mile backpacking trip was hosted by the USC outdoor adventure club SC Outfitters. Although the event was originally scheduled to hike Rancho Cucamonga Peak, the trip was adjusted to hike Ontario Peak due to the icy conditions.

Led by two experienced SC Outfitters student guides Alex Amato and Taylor Ogden, the trip proved to be worth every step.
