Accidents are a part of life, and in a pinch, it’s good to know where to find emergency contraceptives. Purchasing Plan B, a pregnancy test, or any other sexual health item can sometimes be embarrassing or nerve-wracking. Luckily, there are a variety of places around and off campus that provide discrete and convenient access.
1. King’s Hall Vending Machine
The most recent and most accessible location is the “wellness-to-go” machine, located in King’s Hall. Next to Starbucks at Cafe 84, it’s available 24/7 and stocks a variety of health products, not just Plan B. Inside includes ibuprofen, thermometers, condoms, Emergen-C, pregnancy tests, and more. Currently, a Plan B pill costs $22, which is also the most affordable out of the other options. Just like a normal vending machine, simply punch in the number, swipe your card, and you’re good to go.
2. USC Pharmacy
Located at the Student Union on Trousdale, the USC Pharmacy is stocked full of health and hygiene products, including emergency contraceptives. Keep in mind that the pharmacy closes on weekends and closes at 5pm on weekdays.
3. Target
The Target in the USC Village seems to stock everything a college student needs, and it luckily even carries emergency contraceptives. Plan B pills are located near the pharmacy at the back of the store, where you can also find condoms, lubricant, and menstrual products. As of now, they stock name-brand Plan B for $50. Self check-out is a plus, too.
4. CVS Pharmacy
The CVS right below Gateway also carries emergency contraceptives, along with your typical CVS products. It closes at midnight and carries name brand Plan B for $50.
5. Planned Parenthood
Only a few minutes away from campus off of Figueroa and 30th Street is a Planned Parenthood. Not only can you go to receive emergency contraceptives, but they also provide birth control, STD testing, pregnancy testing, and other women’s services. If need be, they may provide the pill for free at no cost if you give them a call. Check out their website to get more information here.
Keep in mind that life happens and there is nothing wrong with needing emergency contraception! Just remember to take it within three days after unprotected sex and only one per cycle is needed. Hopefully, knowing that emergency contraception is right around the corner in case of an accident lets you breathe a little easier.
