Stay in Shape with USC Group Fitness Membership

By Danielle Collins ‘20

Living a healthy lifestyle is one of the biggest struggles of being a college student. As someone who used to hate working out, I had a hard time finding motivation to go to the gym. But investing in a USC Group Fitness Membership last semester changed all of that. With the mid-semester membership discount coming up on March 1st, I wanted to share some information about USC Workout.

Purchasing a USC Group Fitness Membership gives you unlimited access to fitness classes at the Lyon Center and the Village Gym. USC offers a variety of classes throughout the day every day. Keep reading to find out more about USC Group Fitness Memberships and how to sign up!

Pricing:

  • Also, keep in mind how pricey workout classes and memberships are at other places around LA. The USC membership is a steal, take advantage of it!

How to purchase:

  • Go to the USC Recreational Sports website
  • Scroll down to “USC Workout”
  • Click on the link that says “Purchase your USC Workout pass here.”
  • Login with your USC ID
  • Enter your payment information

How to use:

  • Click on University of Southern California and you will be redirected to USC’s page
  • Click on “Sign in with USC Net ID”

  • Sign in with your MyUSC account
  • On the IM website, hover over “University of Southern California” in the top left, and click “Fitness”
  • The list of classes for the week will show up, with the location and number of spots available. Just click on “Sign Up” next to the class you want to take and accept the waiver to sign up!
  • You can sign up for a class starting no more than 24 hours before the class starts

Classes offered:

  • Scyling: “Scyling” is USC’s version of a spin or cycling class, like SoulCycle. I take Scycling twice a week every week, and it is my favorite form of working out. The instructor leads participants in a cardio workout on stationary bikes with specific choreography timed to music for a full-body workout.
  • F45: F45 is a 45 minute, high intensity, circuit training workout. Instructors guide participants through a circuit of exercises, with demonstrations also shown on screens throughout the room. Prepare to be sore the next day!
  • See a full list of class descriptions here
  • Barre, TRX, Yoga, Zumba, Pilates, Boxing and many more!

I highly encourage you to get the USC Group Fitness Membership! The classes are great, and the student instructors are very talented. For me, taking classes is the best way to motivate myself to actually go to the gym, and hopefully it will do the same for you!
