By: Ellice Ellis ‘20
No matter the day of the week it lands on, Halloween is the perfect holiday for college students. Between dressing up, getting spooky, partying, and eating obscene amounts of candy, there is something for everyone. Gone are the days of donning a pair of cat ears and calling it a day, though. Football Season’s Over…So Now What?
By: Cameryn Baker ’22
If you’re a big football person and an avid tailgater, you’re probably feeling sort of at a loss about what to do this weekend. Since September 1st, you’ve always had the football team to count on for your Saturday plans. Even if the game was away, you could still always make an event out of it—you could go watch the game at a restaurant with some friends, or, if you were really dedicated, make a road trip out of it and go see the game in person. But we’ve fallen to the Irish, and season is over. Not another Game Day until next Fall. If you’re a football person, that hurts. But don’t be too bummed, to the point where you sit at home and do nothing all weekend. Think of this not as an end to something, but as an opportunity to go try new things. Here are some fun ways you can fill your weekends now that football season has ended.
Thanksgiving on Campus
By: Cameryn Baker ‘22
Spending Thanksgiving on campus? Here’s what you can do! You’ve probably begun to notice now that campus is getting increasingly abuzz about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday as if Thursday night’s Conquest festival wasn’t enough excitement. You’ve probably heard people around school having conversations about how excited they are for Thanksgiving dinner, seen people in your hall packing their bags for their flights home, or noticed the people you follow on Instagram posting countdowns of the days left until they reunite with their families. It’s enough to change the air with all the excitement of an upcoming break from school. But what if you have no conversations about Thanksgiving food, no plane ticket home, and no countdown? What if you’re stuck on campus for Thanksgiving? It may seem like something to put a damper on the holiday excitement—if not extinguish it completely.

By: Cameryn Baker ‘22
Let’s face it…our football team has not been putting up the most satisfying performance this season. Yes, we’ll always support them, and yes—games, tailgates, and dressing up are fun. But losing? …not so much. But not to worry—if you’re into sports at USC and love to see Trojan victories, trade in football for fútbol. Our women’s soccer team is readying themselves for the postseason, and they’re on fire.
College Road Trip: First of Many
By: Cameryn Baker ‘22
College road trips have always been something that I thought you did as an upperclassman in college; once you’ve found your tight-knit group of friends and feel like you’re ready to take on this rite of passage. I definitely was not expecting to throw pillows, sleeping bags, and USC gear into my car and embark on my first road trip only three weeks into school.
USC Village: Open Now!
By: Amy Wang ‘21
The USC Village has become a prime location for students looking for a new place to eat after class or to shop for necessities to get them through the week. With outdoor tables that provide visitors a place to sit in the shade under the red umbrellas and a variety of restaurants and shops already opened and opening soon, the Village is a great addition to the USC community.
