Thanksgiving on Campus
By Cameryn Baker ‘22
Spending Thanksgiving on campus? Here’s what you can do!
You’ve probably begun to notice now that campus is getting increasingly abuzz about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday as if Thursday night’s Conquest festival wasn’t enough excitement. You’ve probably heard people around school having conversations about how excited they are for Thanksgiving dinner, seen people in your hall packing their bags for their flights home, or noticed the people you follow on Instagram posting countdowns of the days left until they reunite with their families. It’s enough to change the air with all the excitement of an upcoming break from school. But what if you have no conversations about Thanksgiving food, no plane ticket home, and no countdown? What if you’re stuck on campus for Thanksgiving? It may seem like something to put a damper on the holiday excitement—if not extinguish it completely.
But DON’T FEAR! You didn’t really think that USC would leave you to spend Thanksgiving alone in your room, did you? No, they anticipate that some students will have to kick it on campus while the others return home for the break. So, they’ve planned several Thanksgiving events right here at UPC that you will be able to attend. Yay! So you can have that Thanksgiving dinner!
The school-hosted Thanksgiving event opportunities will be occurring from Tuesday, November 20th through Thursday, November 22nd. That’s three days worth of opportunities to eat turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and all the pumpkin pie that you can manage. Some of the events are guest specific, and only open to certain students. Make sure you attend an event that you will be let into! Each event and all you’ll need to know about it is listed below:
1. 11/20, 6:30 pm—Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by the Association of International Graduate Students
-TCC Ballroom
-Open to all graduate students
2. 11/21, 5:00 pm— GradFam East Dinner

If you have to suffer through the Thanksgiving excitement knowing that you’re going to be stuck on campus, try to not be too bummed about it. Your school wants you to feel like this is your home too! USC is showing you that it can be by hosting Thanksgiving dinners on campus so that you’re not left out. Now that’s something to be thankful for. Go enjoy the food, and be grateful that you go to such a great school! And let the food fuel you to finish off the semester, so that you can really start getting excited about Christmas break! It’s coming faster than you might think. Happy Thanksgiving!
