Moving to Los Angeles as an Oregonian
One of the most unique things about USC is its ability to draw in students not just from California but from the rest of the United States and beyond. I happen to be one of those individuals. Aside from spending a few formative years in the Netherlands, I grew up in Portland, Oregon. Although it seems just a hop, a skip, and a jump away from Los Angeles, moving to an entirely different environment has made it feel like I’m living a thousand miles away.

USC: the University of Steady Construction

Unsurprisingly, USC has been making a few minute modifications on and off campus. If you haven’t noticed already, the only Wendy’s for miles has been torn down alongside a movie theatre that nobody ever frequented, the highly controversial Superior Supermarket, and Health Hut— a sandwich and fruit smoothie bar that I honestly have nothing negative to say about because the workers were as sweet as the fresh smoothies that’d quench my thirst every Wednesday after French. It’s save to assume I wasn’t the biggest fan of the gaping hole of dusty revulsion that is better known as “University Village.”

USC’s acceptance letters are out and more often than not are we spotting more families accompanied by their eager future Trojan. For me, this was the single most exciting part about my acceptance to USC.

Okay, we all know of these people or have the unfortunate luck to be living with them, but they are the people who are vindictive, passive aggressive, or just plain horrible roommates. You are not always going to enjoy who you are living with and skip off into the sunset. Life is going to be full of difficult people who are going to try to bring you down. Don’t let them. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you are either: 1. Oblivious and fine with everything (bless your pure, adorable soul) or 2. It’s you.
