USC Style: Daily Campus Fashion

By: Karla Leung ‘22

When walking to class or wandering around campus, I quickly realized how unique the outfits and styles of USC students are; we have everything from Balenciaga sneakers to thrift store finds. Wanting to showcase what some of the more fashion-conscious people on campus wear, I walked around campus with a camera and a pad of paper on the hunt for my favorite outfits.

Brandon Douglas ‘20

Brandon is a junior at USC majoring in Creative Writing and Music Production. He enjoys music, graphic design, and painting, and his Instagram account showcases this well. He’s actually wearing his dad’s Hugo Boss shirt, but shops a lot at goodwill, Zara, Urban Outfitters, and Topman. Some of his biggest fashion inspirations include Luka Sabbat, ASAP Rocky, Tyler the Creator, and his dad. Check out his amazing feed on Instagram at @branmovay, where he posts everything from his photography to his music.

Catherine Yu ‘21

Catherine is a sophomore doubling majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Law and Political Economy. She’s currently the director of outreach for Bloom Boutique (a sustainable fashion organization), and she is also in the JEP Pre-Law program, in the Pre-Law Honor Society, and in USG. What first stood out to me was her earrings, which are from FemFest, a feminist music festival that was held in March on campus. She usually shops at Zara, Urban Outfitters, thrift shops, shops on Melrose Avenue, and American Apparel. Her fashion inspo comes from Instagrammers such as @clairo, @naomiruestel, @oanhaqueen, and @funkynutmeg. Check out Catherine’s Instagram @ccatherineyu to see more of her uniquely edgy outfits and creative feed.

Chris Posslenzny ‘20

Chris is currently a junior at USC majoring in communications. In his free time, he’s into video games, art, and fashion (but specifically not into designer). The main shops he buys his clothes from are Uniqlo, Asos, and Zara. His style is based on individuality and his own sense of what he wants to wear, usually through color blocking or complimenting colors with each other. You can follow his Instagram at @kazupalooza, where he posts his amazing photography and showcases his individual style.

Noor Al Riyami ‘22

Noor is currently a freshman international student from Oman currently majoring in environmental engineering and minoring in ethics and moral philosophy. She absolutely loves reading books, as well as recently developing a love for classic Arabic music and calligraphy. Most of her clothes come from ASOS, Zara,  Bershka, and, occasionally, thrift stores. Noor doesn’t have many fashion inspirations but instead focuses on the colors of her clothes (I happened to catch her on a day where the color was black). What stood out to me the most was her necklace, which actually was a pin that she’s had since she was little. Inscribed with Quran verses, she recently turned it into a necklace and hasn’t taken it off since. You can follow her at her Instagram @nooralriyanmi.
