Trying and Ranking Popular Starbucks Drinks!

By: Hannah Skinner ‘23

Many of you coffee-enthusiasts probably enjoy trying new drinks, but it can be hard to know what is worth spending your money on. With all the trendy drinks circulating on social media and TikTok, I thought I would try some and share my thoughts!

I went to Starbucks the other day with the goal of trying a few popular drinks! I tried four in total, and below is a list of how I ranked them (with my favorite drink at end of the list as number 1):

4. Pink Drink with Matcha

To order this drink, I asked for a Pink Drink with vanilla cold foam and a scoop of matcha. It was funny how even though this looked more like a green drink than a pink drink, the much matcha was almost undetectable and it maintained the classic Pink Drink strawberry flavor. If you are looking for more matcha flavor, the solution may be to ask for more than one scoop. Nonetheless, it was super refreshing so a great summer drink!

3. Iced White Mocha

To order this drink, I asked for an iced white mocha with vanilla sweet cream cold foam and extra caramel drizzle. This was a very sweet coffee drink - great for when energy levels are low. I would also recommend this to all caramel lovers, since the caramel flavor was certainly the star of the show. If you want it on the less sweet side, I recommend asking for this drink with one less pump of sweetener, or possibly no caramel drizzle.

2. Cookie Butter Latte

To order this drink, I asked for an iced chai latte with brown sugar and oat milk. This was the drink that inspired me to write this blog after seeing so many people try it on TikTok. Even though I didn’t think it tasted too similar to cookie butter and it mostly tasted like a chai latte, I still enjoyed it a lot. Definitely order this if you like chai lattes and want to try a slightly different take on the drink!

1. Chocolate Almond Shaken Espresso

This is a drink straight off their menu - one from the Shaken Espresso series. The other drink in this series is the Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, which I have also tried before and loved. To my surprise, I preferred the Chocolate Almond Espresso! What set this drink apart from the others that I tried was the coffee-flavor focus. It was not too sweet and the addition of the chocolate was really enjoyable. Definitely something to order again in the future!
